{"id":5288,"date":"2021-11-22T14:47:29","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T14:47:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.prisonersadvice.org.uk\/?p=5288"},"modified":"2021-11-22T14:47:29","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T14:47:29","slug":"pas-submits-evidence-to-ipp-sentences-inquiry-by-justice-select-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prisonersadvice.org.uk\/wordpress\/2021\/11\/22\/pas-submits-evidence-to-ipp-sentences-inquiry-by-justice-select-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"PAS Submits Evidence to IPP Sentences Inquiry by Justice Select Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Tuesday 23 November, the Justice Committee\u00a0will begin taking oral evidence\u00a0for\u00a0its\u00a0inquiry into Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) sentences, with a session focused on the experiences of prisoners serving the sentences and their mental health.\u00a0Though IPP sentences were abolished in 2012, there are still more than 3,000 people currently in prison serving the sentence.\u00a0The indeterminate nature of the sentence means\u00a0prisoners\u00a0do not know when they will be released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PAS has, today, submitted written evidence to the Select Committee.
