only independent registered charity offering free legal advice and representation to adult prisoners on their rights and prison rules in England and Wales.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PAS does not accept\nHome Office or Prison Service funding, as this may affect its independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the Criminal\nJustice System is much on the nation\u2019s agenda, &nbsp;it is a particularly important and exciting\ntime to join our Trustees and complement PAS\u2019s &nbsp;small but highly motivated Management\nCommittee where an effective commitment to access to \u2018justice behind bars\u2019 is\nthe shared value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a Trustee, you will contribute to the strategic\ngovernance of the organisation and the setting and monitoring of overall\npolicy; keep strategic priorities under review; agree targets and budgets;\nevaluate organisational performance and\nhelp the organisation fundraise<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meetings take\nplace quarterly in central London in the evening, with additional attendance\nrequested at the Strategic Day and PAS\u2019s Annual Lecture (November) and Panel\nDiscussion (May).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PAS is currently\nseeking to recruit a Trustee with sound knowledge of current employment law\nand\/or current experience of managing Human Resources in an SME or a small\ncharity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Board encourages applications from\ncandidates with disabilities or experience of mental health services, as well\nas black and minority ethnic applicants and ex-prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trustees\nare volunteers, but travel costs and reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Closing date for\napplications:&nbsp;<strong>Friday 20 September,\n2019, with i<\/strong>nterviews planned for\nW<strong>\/C 30 September, 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
