{"id":3497,"date":"2018-11-09T12:15:20","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T12:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.prisonersadvice.org.uk\/?p=3497"},"modified":"2025-11-21T10:53:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T10:53:16","slug":"pas-chair-receives-lifetime-achievement-award-at-cja-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prisonersadvice.org.uk\/wordpress\/2018\/11\/09\/pas-chair-receives-lifetime-achievement-award-at-cja-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"PAS Chair Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at CJA Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"249\" src=\"https:\/\/prisonersadvice.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/PASChairperson.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6991\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PAS is delighted to announce that our Chair of Trustees, Martine Lignon, was honoured last night with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the <a href=\"http:\/\/criminaljusticealliance.org\/criminal-justice-alliance-awards-2018\/\">Criminal Justice Alliance Awards 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of Martine, PAS Director, Lubia Begum-Rob said, \u201cShe contributes an enormous amount of time and energy\u2026 keeping everyone on their toes and taking with the utmost seriousness her responsibilities to the organisation and the needs of our beneficiaries.&nbsp; Her commitment is absolute.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yvonne Roberts, Chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womeninprison.org.uk\/\">Women in Prison<\/a>, said, \u201cAs a long serving trustee of the feminist charity\u2026 campaigning to reduce the women\u2019s penal population and replace the system with a more effective model, her knowledge, wisdom, charm, eloquence and drive are invaluable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nina Champion, recently appointed new Director of Criminal Justice Alliance, said of the accolades \u2013 now in their fourth year \u2013 \u201cthe Awards shine a light on organisations and individuals making significant contributions to a fairer and more effective criminal justice system.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After spending most of her career in Adult, Further and Higher Education, Martine turned to prisoners\u2019 education, training and employment. She worked as Head of Learning and Skills at HMP Pentonville and HMP\/YOI Isis. Then, under OLASS 2, she was the education provider for residents of HMP\/YOI Holloway, HMP Pentonville and clients of the North and East quadrants of London Probation. Now retired, Martine also volunteers as employability trainer for The Refugee Council.&nbsp; She joined PAS as a Trustee in June 2012 and became Chair in January 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We all at PAS wish Martine the very best and congratulate her on the well-deserved
