{"id":545,"date":"2025-10-29T17:37:04","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T17:37:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prisonersadvice.org.uk\/wordpress\/?page_id=545"},"modified":"2026-04-09T14:54:49","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T13:54:49","slug":"outreach-clinics-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/prisonersadvice.org.uk\/wordpress\/outreach-clinics-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Outreach Clinics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized page-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4252\" height=\"2835\" src=\"https:\/\/prisonersadvice.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/09-mount-3442.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-232\" style=\"width:530px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>PAS\u2019 caseworkers run two types of Outreach Clinics within prisons across England and Wales: One-to-one legal advice clinics and legal education sessions for groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025-26, we delivered 59 legal advice Outreach Clinics providing one-to-one advice or education to 359 prisoners across 14 prisons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HMPs Belmarsh, Brixton, Downview, High Down, Highpoint, Huntercombe, Isis, Maidstone, Morton Hall, New Hall, Pentonville, Thameside, Wandsworth and Wormwood Scrubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Legal Advice Clinics: one-to-one advice<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We give general advice on a one-to-one basis at legal advice outreach sessions, which are often held in prison libraries. Any prisoner can sign up to attend these sessions. The clinics provide expert advice on a vast range of issues, from missing items of property to complex issues&nbsp;relating to recall procedures and sentence calculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Legal Education: group education<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Our caseworkers run legal education sessions with small groups of prisoners, explaining the legal framework for prison law and discussing how it&nbsp;applies to them and other prisoners and their queries and complaints about prison life. These sessions are usually \u2013 although not always \u2013 organised via a partner agency, such as the St Giles Trust, which delivers an NVQ course in Information, Advice and Guidance to prisoners, who are employed as peer advisers and other advice related roles within the prison estate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PAS\u2019 caseworkers run two types of Outreach Clinics
